About Kim

Growing up in the Maritimes was a wonderful experience, filled with friends, music, school, sports and family. Over the years, this life deteriorated whilst living with alcoholism in the family, and then the diagnosis of terminal cancer and eventual death of my mother when I was 18. My life would never be the same. The experience of loss of life, and profound loss of self with no exterior support found me digging deeper than I ever have. Knowing in my heart I was a survivor, I forged on, and rebuilt a life with a whole new appreciation for how precious and fragile this life is.

Several years later, and on the opposite side of the country, I found myself in the middle of a divorce, a change in jobs, and selling the family home. Probably three of the most stressful events all at once! I had just participated in a leadership training course led by a Professional Coach, and this was my first exposure to coaching. I felt inspired to learn more, and hired this amazing coach to help me navigate this very difficult transitional time in my life

Together we partnered to a) determine where I was at and where I wanted to get to. b) identify the gaps between the two and c) create a plan to achieve my goal. It sounds simple but it took a lot of work, dedication, and self reflection. Through this process I found a renewed sence of self, a connection to my values, and a zest for life I hadn't felt in years. Coaching helped me propel forward to a new house, new job, and continue to support my children through to their eventual launch into independence.

My first experience with coaching came at a time in my life when I was going through a challenging transition in my life. Newly single, new job, and a world of uncertainty challenged my feeling of self, something I had gradually lost over the years. Feeling lost, I employed a coach to help me find my strength, identity, and passion for life.

I now had the confidence to make choices in my best interest, the beginning of that thought being that always have choices. Aligning choices with values, I was able to identify opportunities, challenge myself with confidence, and in the time that spanned my divorce to 5 years later, triple my income.

I realized coaching was my next calling, and enrolled in Executive Coach Training at Canada Coach Academy. 8 months and 125 training hours later, I completed the course, and 100 coaching hours later I achieved my certification through the International Coaching Academy.

My passion is working with 18-30 age group, navigating the many choices during this time, or finding the choices when you feel 'stuck. My second forte is  working with women going through transitions in life much like my own. I offer focused listening skills, reflective and thought provoking questions, and a promise to always be in your corner. Coaching is a partnership between coach and client, I will walk with you, listen to your thoughts and feelings, and hold up the mirror for you to see and hear back your own reflections, or stories and limiting beliefs. The joy felt by both parties when the magic starts and things begin to move in the desired direction is amazing.
